Every Monday I will post the reading for the week ahead. It will be about 10 chapters a week. You might want to read a chapter or two a day, and catch up at weekends. In 22:8 I was struck by how David underlines that the reason the Lord said he was not to build the ‘house for my name’ is that he has ‘shed much blood and fought many wars… you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight’. The clear implication is that this made David unfit to build the house. The bloodshed was a necessary part of establishing the kingdom, but the house itself is to be a house of untainted peace.
