THE PLAN

Every Monday I will post the reading for the week ahead. It will be about 10 chapters a week. You might want to read a chapter or two a day, and catch up at weekends. If there is a verse that especially spoke to you, a question that you have, or a thought that struck you, please share it with your fellow travellers by making a comment.

Thank you to Caroline for what she shared at our gathering yesterday. The Book of Jeremiah, to me, has been a wonderful picture of God's Judgement on His sinful people, like us, and His Amazing Mercy and Grace in His Forgiveness, which we of course know cost the Agony of the Cross. The tension between Judgement and Mercy seen so strongly throughout the Book. V 20 ''FOR I WILL FORGIVE THE REMNANT I SPARE''. Brought to my heart so much Romans
3 v 23 ''FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD,AND ARE JUSTIFIED FREELY BY HIS GRACE THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT CAME BY CHRIST JESUS''. Thanks be to God.
Now about to get into Lamentations!

In a fine setting by Thomas Tallis:

How deserted lies the city,
    once so full of people!
How like a widow is she,
    who once was great among the nations!
She who was queen among the provinces
    has now become a slave.

Bitterly she weeps at night,
    tears are on her cheeks.
Among all her lovers
    there is no one to comfort her.
All her friends have betrayed her;
    they have become her enemies.

Jerusalem, turn again to the Lord your God.
