THE PLAN

Every Monday I will post the reading for the week ahead. It will be about 10 chapters a week. You might want to read a chapter or two a day, and catch up at weekends. If there is a verse that especially spoke to you, a question that you have, or a thought that struck you, please share it with your fellow travellers by making a comment.

Enjoying the little comments which show God's care and provision in Leviticus. E.g. 22v13 and how God explicitly makes provision for the priest's daughter who is a widow - she can return to her father's house and eat the sacred offerings again. He cares for His people!!

And how God's law shows he cares for the poor and the outsider - Leviticus 23 vs 22

My inner communist warms to the Jubilee of 25:14-17! It has some parallels with a leasehold system. If you bought land from a fellow Israelite, you only ever bought it temporarily. The price you paid would reflect the number of years of benefit you could derive from it before the next Jubilee Year, when the land would revert to its original owner. The reason (which has little to do with communism!) is humbling and beautiful: 25:23 “The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers.”

I was a bit apprehensive about Leviticus, but am just amazed at how it points to our Saviour, through His Holiness and Redemption. In chps 19-27, I found 36 ''I AM THE LORD''. That is what God wants us to recognise &,it has brought me once more to worship at His Feet.
